Signal has recently updated its Android and iOS apps and has introduced some new features that were in demand for some time now. Some of these prominent features include chat wallpapers and animated stickers.
These new features were officially confirmed by Signal back on January 12 and now these new features are available on the latest version of the app; 5.3.1 for iOS and 5.3.7 on Android.
Now circled in controversy, Signal’s rival has the chat wallpaper feature for a long time that Signal has now introduced. Along with the ability to change the chat wallpaper one of the new features that has also been introduced is the animated stickers.
Now users can opt if they want to set the same custom wallpaper as default for every chat or they want to set separate wallpaper for every individual chat. Both things are possible. Wallpapers can be picked either from the built-in wallpaper gallery that Signal offers or you can choose a custom image as wallpaper from their gallary.
With the introduction to new animated stickers, Signal also allows users to make their own APNG animated sticker pack in Signal which can be used with multiple chats.
Apart from these two, one of the magnificent feature that has now been added to Signal is the option to add your bio in the about section of your Signal profile.
For the iOS app, Signal has also introduced a setting to lower data usage while calling. This feature automatically pauses attachment downloads while on a call and the update also improved the image compression quality and chat list previews by adding sender’s name in any group chat.
Looking at all those improvements and the pace Signal is going at and how it managed the downtime and came back up as soon as possible, it seems that apart from providing complete privacy, Signal will not be behind in any feature that its competitors offer, making it more interactive and user friendly.
